This morning (yes, I have finally caught up!) we walked from our house to the beach and then headed right towards the pier.
A short street that is actually sort of picturesque.
We have seen some families here - but mostly the area caters to young people. You certainly don't see many oldsters like us. The area is known for its outdoor activities. Every day you see the trucks with benches on either side of the bed for people - picking up folks for various activities. They might be taking you to the pier where you can catch a boat and go snorkeling, diving or fishing or just to visit another island. Or maybe you are going inland - rock climbing, hiking or maybe a jungle ride.
Another short street. There are a lot of Tattoo parlors here as well.
You see these shrines set up anywhere - sometimes right next to a very fancy resort.
Display in front of a resort.
I have seen many of these monkey benches at bus stops.
Someone was partying here last night!
With all the humidity - it is hazy here most of the time. We are here just before the rainy season. But it might be starting early. We had downpours yesterday and today.
Early morning relaxing by the beach.
There a lot of bars and cabanas places along here. The street cleaners are out cleaning up the leaves and the mess behind the revelers. It looks like this women is getting help from her daughter.
We past by this monument when we took the Grab to the pier.
You can even get Tex Mex food here - I am not in the least tempted to try it. I can't imagine what the Thai take on Tex Mex would be like!
Another street cleaner at work. Note all the business on the other side of the street are closed. It is about 7AM.
Another monument along the water.
Michael is so tiny below the palm tree.
There is one of these on every block.
Go to Pop Buddy to get your cannabis and then walk next door to book your long-tail boat ride.
As hot and muggy as it is there are still a few brave (or crazy) souls out running.
Reflection of the scene above - behind the chairs.
I read on a blog that the kind of food that you are most likely to get sick here from is seafood. We have eaten shrimp - but have yet to try a whole fish.
We walked until we were exhausted then called a Grab. Close to us was this truck. Most of the vehicles that move people around are old and decrepit. This one looks brand new. The driver was in the back almost sterilizing the seats.
We left the house around 6:45 am. There were not many ride vehicles out that early - nor where there many people walking. But as it grew later we were called to "Hello, Hello - and pointing at their ride vehicle. I guess we look like people who need a ride!
wow this is a very interesting place - not at all your usual place to visit. Sort of a cultural experience in and of itself in that sense!
ReplyDeleteI can´t guess what businesses would be open at 7am here, because I´m never up that early, but I guess it would be similarly deserted. It was a good time for you to explore.
