5-17 Kwame Nkrumeh Memorial

Friday is a touring day around Accra.  Because the traffic is so slow, it takes a long time to get anywhere in Accra.  You might get hungry or thirsty before you get to your destination.

The Rotary 4-way test on a billboard close to the memorial.

Kwame Nkrumah's official car while he was president from 1960-1966.  He was on a peace-making trip to Vietnam when a military coup took over Ghana.  He was exiled to Guinea where he became the honorary co-president of the country.

The memorial that Kwame Nkrumah is buried in.

School children visiting the memorial.  The teachers could not keep all these energetic children corralled.

A statue of a native drummer.

Native musician.

They are restoring the pools - these statues have been repainted

These have not.  It would look a lot nicer if there was water in the pool.

His tomb.

His wife, Fathia's tomb.  She was from Egypt.

Our guide explaining why the head - is separated from the rest of the statue.
