9/2 Car Photos of Swedish Countryside

I like to challenge myself to take photos while Michael is driving.  I think I might be 1 out of 10 that I keep.  No comments - as I don't know what any of the villages were called.

The two photos below are in Helsingborg.

9/2 Helsingborg Old Town

We next drove into Helsingborg, found a place to park and headed for the Old Town and lunch.  Always a bit of a challenge to all agree on what we want to eat!  Wayne's Coffee ended up being the place.

Across the way from the parking garage exit.

The town hall

Heading up the hill towards the Old Town area.

We saw these booths set up by politicians in a plaza on our way to the castle.  Just a little about politics in Sweden.  It is a parliamentary democracy.  This means citizens vote for the legislature.  A single party can rule if it wins 50% or more of the votes.  Otherwise they form a coalition.  The party or the coalition decides who will be the leader.  There is early voting - but always in schools, libraries or other municipal buildings.  Election day is the second Sunday in September.

Just pass those booths - are you ready to climb stairs!

Half way there - views back toward the harbour.

And view up to the medieval Karnan Tower which is in Slottshagen Park.

Views of the rooftops.

I choose not to climb up these steps or any other that were inside.

Statue of David by Ivar Johnsson - 1922.

Church of St. Mary build around 1450

Tombs line the floor

Beautiful stained glass windows.

The Oregon.

Statue in front of the entrance to the church.

After our visit to the church we headed back to the garage via the port.

Statue of Magnus Stenbock - a favorite of King Charles XII.

We we were not planning to go the harbor as we were exhausted - but it was so close to the parking garage!

A statue of the Maritime Goddess.

Ferry leaving the harbor

Harbor Scenes.

An architecturally interesting building.

Glass entrance to the parking garage with city view behind it.
