4-24 The Bell and Drum Towers

We have two more sites to see in Xi'an before we head back to Shanghai later on today.  We head to the Drum Tower first.  The first few photos are of the tower and the scenes around it.

Every where we go we see people (mostly women) dressed in old costumes.

The Drum tower is in the center of a traffic circle.  Four streets spin off.

All of the drums on the sides announce a different time of the year.

This one is for the beginning of rain fall.

Inside there were some amateur musicians putting on a small show.

The musicians performed in this room displaying ancient drums.

This drum looks very much like a shield from Europe.

And on to the Bell Tower.  It was used to announce the time to the people.  Built in 1384 AD.

I wanted to get a photo of the little boy from the front - but he didn't cooperate.

Photo of the hand rail and beautiful flowers below.
