We have had 4 days of driving all over the Peloponnese with a fantastic historical guide, but not very good driver. Today we stayed in town and walked from our apartment through the downtown area to the old historic center of Kalamata. Our first stop was a pastry store to satisfy my sweet tooth with a very chocolaty Nutella croissant. No picture - but it was good. This is the uptown area.
Lots of Greek Orthodox churches every where in Greece.
Not near as much street art or graffiti as in Athens - but we did find some.
Inside the Greek Orthodox church. Mike trying to speak to someone who only knows Greek!
More Kalamata street scenes.
The church of the Holy Apostles. A much older, simpler church.
The famous church of Kalamata, the Cathedral Church Ypapanti.
All the bishops who have served there.
Kalamata has mountains on two sides. I realized I had no pictures of the mountains. So here is one of a parking lot with the mountains in the background.
Another restaurant.
The Blue Greek Orthodox church - we were tired and did not go in.
A final street scene. I think they were trying to sell beer - or maybe death!
ah there you go, next time the guide should have his sister drive and devote all his time to telling you guys about the sites.
