Photo tour with Vassilis of "Photo Walks in Athens"

We had set up a photo tour for Thursday afternoon - to start at 4pm.  We started walking to the meeting place, but quickly realized that we would not make it in time.  We hailed a cab to take us to the metro stop - no problem and not too expensive.  We met Vassilis and started walking to our first stop,  the Olympieon.  Our first lesson was on framing the picture and using a wheel on the camera to adjust the lightness and darkness easily.

We started at the gate, trying different angles and techniques.

It was a very cloudy day - that is the sun trying to shine through the clouds on the left of the photo below.

A shot with no light between the pillars.

And the opposite with the acropolis way in the background.

Next stop was the Panathenaic Stadium.  I thought it would be boring.  But as a photographer you should always try to find something interesting.

This view was just outside the entrance to the stadium.

We next headed off to a park to photo more Jacaranda trees.  They leave a wonderful purple carpet to walk on.

We next wandered towards and through old town Athens.

Vassilis pointed out this bar.

Local life on an upstairs patio.
A cafe on a street that ends in graffiti.
the Holy Church of St Nicholas Raskava.

Now - more graffiti.

More churches.

We ended up at the Plaka - lots of vendors.  I was intrigued with these balloons.

  2. Gloria, I am very proud to see your photos being (not surprisingly) very good! Besides describing Athens, they have a character and a mood! I can see your personal "manual" approach, away from "auto" !!
I am very pleased you have enjoyed my Photo Tour and got so many out of it! Your photos say so....
Feel free for to share some in my Facebook page!
