September 25 - Our last Day in Denmark!

Today our plan is to drive into Denmark.  Rob has chosen the city of Helsinger or in English Elsinore, to visit.  The castle there is Kronborg Castle.  So very near the parking lot was a food court called Elsinore Street food.  It had places from all over the world, Indian, Arabia, Japan, and many more.  It was hard to choose.

The food court.

The drink center.

A line of food booths.

Along one wall were many plaques with sayings in many different languages.  The girls had great fun trying to guessing what the ones in languages they didn't know actually said.

I had the Agnes sandwich in honor of my granddaughter, Lia Agnes.  She is named after my mother.  It was a chicken sandwich with tomato (I got it without).  Lia doesn't eat tomatoes either.

Lia at the entrance to the Elsinore Street Food Court.

A view of the castle ( and scaffolding!) and its moat in the distance.

A metal modal of the castle grounds.  Natasha is too big to sit in it - but she is a giant conquering the castle.  I saw a family with two very small (under 3) children who could both sit in the castle at the same time - so cute!

The cute little town across the water that we did not have time to visit.

And into the castle grounds.

That is Sweden across the water behind us - there is a ferry very close that goes there.  We will not make it to Sweden this trip!

Sweden!

Many things for kids to try in the center of the castle grounds.  Pretend horses, stilts, and stocks and pillory.

Inside the Kronborg Castle.  The furniture is not original to the castle, but it supposed to be of the same quality and time period.

View from a castle window.

The girls had a hard time understanding why any women would wear a gown like the one above.  They are not into fashion yet.

There were a lot of tapestries.

Two very royal looking young ladies.

One of the castle kitchens.

The castle chapel.

We are out of the castle and walking along the shoreline heading back to the carpark.

I saw this statue from a distance and could not figure out what it was until google came to my rescue.  It is Hydra slaying the Medusa.  That explains some of the weirdness!

We walked closer to the quaint village - maybe we will be able to see it on our next visit to Denmark.
