I haven't posted in a while. But hey, what should I post about since I am just sitting in the apartment with my right foot up. I have gone to sit out on the balcony a few times, but never last long. The chairs out there are not comfortable at all. Yesterday, Michael went onto the balcony and said - hey there are yachts out there. So of-course I had to look and then take a picture.
This morning only one was there. So I started thinking - this being side-lined is a great time to show you our apartment and surroundings.
Yesterday's photo - I made an armature mistake and put the light pole right on the yacht.
Here is a view from the balcony on the back side of our apartment. Not so much a view of the water - more views of other people's balconies.
So today I got the shot of the yacht without the light pole. An improvement for sure. On the right in the shadow is our balcony wall with a little bit of the street.
There is a big shadow in front of our balcony. This is above our entrance to the building. We are on the second floor. And thankfully there is an elevator. Early morning is delivery time for the store below us, the hotel across the street from us. Also all the restaurants along the waterfront and up into the old town. The truck at the bottom of the photo is filled mostly with 6 packs of water, but also other drinks. I watched as the driver took them down the hill to the hotel. Notice all the motorbikes in front of the trucks. I am guessing, but I think all the waiters and store workers drive them. They are there all day.
Lots of cars parked on our street going the other direction. I am thinking workers also. Beach goers park on the street running parallel to the water and in various car parks off that street.
If I lift the camera up and take a photo over the buildings you can see that there are mountains surrounding the town.
And still on the same balcony, aiming the camera towards town - more mountains.
Now back to the poor view balcony - you can see "The Rock" - Both sides are shear drop-offs. This is the direction of old town.
And then aiming a little more towards the water you can see the towers of the cathedral and on the right "The Rock". And of course our two neighboring apartment buildings.
And aiming the camera lower - a shot of our parking lot. If we had a car, our spot is in between the red and white cars. Last year Michael got in trouble with the owner of both cars who informed him that you cannot be over the line!! It is hard to see it here - but they are both over the line! Michael wanted so much to go put notes on their cars!
Now on to the apartment. This is the main hall way. The kitchen is off to the right, the dining area to the left. The first door on the right is the laundry room with a toilet. Next is a hall closet - a great place to hang laundry on a rainy day. Next is the door to the bathroom and lastly my bedroom. Directly in front is the door to a closet. Coming from the left side back is the 3rd bedroom which we are using as an exercise room and then Michael's bedroom.
Laundry room
The clothes washer is very small.
The 3d bedroom or exercise room. We thought we had purchased 1 yoga mat, but ended up with two.
My bedroom - excuse the mess - but I am on vacation!
Michael's bedroom, complete with desk on the right.
The dining area. The doors are entrances to the balcony that has good view.
The living room area.
The kitchen
With the door to the not so good view - and the laundry lines.
The bathroom. The shower is lovely. It has two shower heads. I use the rain shower - can't see it as it is against the wall and Michael uses the hand held European style shower head.
I am sharing these photos because some people have asked what our life is like here. But I also wanted to remember this place. We most likely won't come back as this apartment is very expensive. But it is perfect for this experiment. Michael and I have never lived in a city center where we did not have a car and had to walk to get everything we need. The Gourmet Deco is 5 blocks away. The pharmacy is a block away. Main street is 2 blocks away. The beach is 1 block away. Old town is a couple blocks away. There are bakeries, fruit/vegetable stands and restaurants everywhere. There is a decent size grocer just below us, who also sell sandwiches and other food. The only thing I haven't found is where you buy business/ school supplies, but I am working on that.
I love all the detail. I'm really hoping your dumb foot doesn't put a damper on the whole experience because how fun to finally be experiencing city life. Such a great location as well!
