4-23 Xi'an City Walls

Next stop on our agenda were the Xi'an city walls.  This photo is from the outside of the walls.

As at every attraction in China we have been to - you have to put your backpacks and other belongings through a scanner and walk through one yourself.  Then we could enter through the gate and to the city.

Big busses are allowed to park inside.

Yes - we managed to climb all those steps.

View at the top.

There were several signs bragging about President and Mrs. Clintons visit in 1998.  Our guide pointed them out with pride.

Then I saw this photo.  Jack our guide, knew is was Michelle Obama - but didn't seem to know that the two young ladies in the foreground were her daughters.  The President is not there so maybe her visit doesn't count.

There were a few booths selling souvenirs.

I liked this detail on the small shrine on the wall.  But other wise there was not much to see so we didn't stay.

  1. when we visited you could rent bikes and ride around the walls. I guess that is no longer possible?

  2. Looks like an interesting trip, and you are following in the footsteps of presidents, after all...
