10-13 Murcia

On Tuesday Stef and John had a plan to go to Valencia for two days.  So Michael and I decided to do a overnight trip as well.  We chose Mercia.  We have not done that here in El Campello before.  We have taken lots of day trips - but that requires that you leave in late afternoon in order to get home before dark.  This is an opportunity to stay out taking photos during the golden hour and in the dark with city lights.  And then just walk to the hotel and go to bed.  It is so freeing.

Michael found an inexpensive hotel very close to Old Town and parking very close.  It  was all wonderful!

We came up from the parking garage on steps on the right to this beautiful scene.

We headed toward our hotel passing through the main square - Plaza del Cardenal Balligua.  After we dropped our bag in the hotel room we found a restaurant for lunch right in the plaza.  We found a fusion type restaurant.

Michael had Ensalada Russa.

I got these Japanese gyoza - they were so tasty.

I ordered a dish that was chicken with cheese sauce with roasted potatoes.  Pretty much chicken fried steak with potatoes - but still pretty good.

Michael had this pork had potato dish.

We had the lunch of the day menu.  So got the first course, second course and dessert or coffee.  Michael had coffee - I got this dessert which we shared.  A chocolate croissant with some kind of filling with a side of ice cream.  It was excellant.

Then we started taking photos.

Our restaurant.

We are in the plaza of the most famous cathedral in Musica

Then we went into the cathedral - it would cost 6 Euros to go into the main church.  It was free to go to the museum - it normally costs 5 Euros.  But if we come back at 5:30 the main Cathedral is free.  So we go to the museum and then leave as it is around 4:30pm.

The museum is not that impressive.

Then we head off to another site.

One of the signs in this plaza had a warped metal side.  I took lots of photos  - more of them later.

Another warped photo - don't even need the  fisheye lens.

Then we moved on to try to find a museum of Arabic architecture.  This is actually the Royal Monetary of Saint Clare.  The museum we want is on the other side.

When we entered the museum we saw this saying.

The building is in the Moorish style.

This shows the edge and what the side wall looks like.  It is very beautiful.

To be Continued.
