So we can reach this town by taking the tram, but it is much faster driving by car. So that is what we did. We headed for a parking garage in Denia.
Every once in a while I like to post photos of how tight parking is in Europe. After all they have very old medieval towns with extremely narrow one way streets in all of the old towns. And because real estate is so tight - parking is very tight. This garage is not bad by European standards. But RM and I had to get out of the car before Michael parked the car.
We are in the elephant section - we have to walk through the rabbit section to get to the exit.
We emerge from the underground close to this blue building. It looked much bluer.
The streets here have been blocked off for walking.
Never seen a "Hello Man" store before.
The central plaza with the blue/purple flowers.
The famous church. Can't get a good photo of it because it is too tight.
Inside the church.
Outside again - we start walking up to the castle.
A look back a side street.
The gate into the castle.
I have not shown all the cobblestones we had to walk up. But now we have great views of the sea.
The climb up was brutal. But now there are views.
We sent RM up to scout out the views. Her take was - our views here were just as good.
We then headed down. This terracing was added so much later - I think for grape vines.
A view down to the church.
And views of the port.
And then out of the castle area into the city.
This photo exhibit was so interesting. The picture on the left looks like a breast. But if you look closer, it is a women in a hat with a breast painting. All the rest are the same. Women in hats making up an interesting photo to represent something else.
We found a cafe to have a little to eat. RM had a vegetarian sandwich. I had two tapas - meatballs and fries. Michael had to tapas things with seafood. We went home happy.
looks like a beautiful day!
