October 28 San Vito Lo Capo

I wanted to see this small picturesque fishing village because it has a lighthouse.  We have had trouble finding parking in larger villages that are mostly for the locals - life does go on after tourists leave.  But in this small tourist town there was plenty of street parking available.  Most tourists have headed home away from the iffy weather.

There were a few open restaurants near the water front, but lots of them have closed for the season.  We decided to walk to the lighthouse before having lunch.  It was a nice walk on mostly flat land.  The lighthouse itself is not much to see and the poor weather, mostly white clouds, was not helping.

On our drive to San Vito Lo Capo, we stopped at  an overlook.  The views must be breath taking when the weather is nice.

This crane was working - don't know what they were digging - maybe clearing the mud from the area so boats could get close.

We drove on to the town of San Vito Lo Capo.  Like everywhere else we have been in Sicily, there are still flowers blooming.

                                                               Michael & the Squid!

As we walked to the lighthouse I looked back and caught a couple of views.

The two men in the middle bottom were making music.  One was playing the saxophone.

Scenes from along our walk to the lighthouse.

We made it!  I had to play around in Lightroom to get the lighthouse to show up better.  The skies were really gray.

Around the lighthouse was a very peppily beach.  I didn't walk too far as there did not seem to be much to see.

A shell caught on a black netting used for a fence.

I caught this view through a hole in the netting with my fisheye lens.

Views along the walk back to the restaurant - all with the fisheye lens.

If you look closely you can see a few people painting blue over the mural.

We did make it back to the restaurant for lunch.  Michael had a seafood pasta which he gave  an A+ to and Penelle (chickpea fritters).  I wanted a whole fish - but ended up with 4 small red fish that were pretty tasteless.  But I had ordered chips which were fantastic!  Like French fries, but in potato chip curves (think Pringles shapes) only thicker.  Yum!
