October 21 The Neopolis Archaeological Zone

 Today we went to visit the Greek and Roman ruins near Syracuse.  There were a lot of steep hills and steps up and down over a small area.  A lot of the sights were iffy - such as  the so called Archimedes tomb which might very well by a pigeon coup.  But we did see a nice Roman Amphitheatre.

Basically this was a stone quarry.  We did see the amphitheater and and a theatre.

It was very hot - a break from the heat and walking was needed - and of course gelato for the girls.
