Travel and laundry day. We had a short - 1 hour flight from Baku to Tbilisi today. They managed to get us drinks, a sandwich and a twix in that short time! On US flights you are lucky if you get water for that short of a flight.
This Georgian capitol city is very hilly. The roads near our airbnb are 2-way with cars parked crazily on either side of the road. People feel free to turn around in the middle of the street - both our driver from the airport and taxi driver to a restaurant did it. Traffic is bumper to bumper. Once you get down our hill on to the main roads - people drive very fast. Twice on the taxi ride back to our airbnb our driver had to slam on his breaks to avoid a collision with some one randomly turning onto the main road from a side road.
But we did share a wonderful Georgian meal with Cassandra Divjak who is a college of our daughter Lisa Podolny in the State Department. I can't thank Cassandra enough for all the help in getting us information on what to see, do and eat in Georgia. Tomorrow we will start exploring Tbilisi!
