New Orleans Photo Workshop with Eric

Today we had a 3 hour photo workshop with Eric in the French Quarter.  We met him at 9am and were the only ones on the tour.  We spent almost all the time in Jackson Square.  We mostly worked on the camera menus.  I am newly converted from Nikon to Olympus and Mike newly converted to photography period.  So there was much to be discovered.  It was all good, but the pictures were boring as we took the same photo over and over at different settings.  We both got a lot out of the workshop so that was good.  For me it was a review - for Mike it was an overload of information.

After the class we had lunch at Coop's - OK, but truthfully, the food we had at the dive diner the yesterday was better and cheaper!  I had the tasting plate.  The jambalaya was boring, The gumbo just OK.  Beans and rice not very flavorful, The Creole seafood was good.  Mike had Creole red fish.  The fish was excellent, as were the green beans.  The rest not so good.  All the fish we have had in LA has been excellent.  I think I will concentrate on that. We took  a little more time to shoot photos before heading to the French Market - we wanted Loretta's praline filled beignets one more time.  Then headed home to do laundry and an early night.

I took multiple shots of the following scenes.  I choose the best of the lot.  Hopefully I am doing better photos.  This is the St. Louis Cathedral.  The rest are street scenes around the French Quarter.

There is a lot of reconstruction going on.  We passed a lot of painters.  These guys were interesting - I would not stand on a ladder like that - especially on the second story!

The cornstalk Fence Hotel.  Apparently one of two fences like this in New Orleans.

Inside the Cathedral.  There was a mass going on - so not many pictures.

A fountain just outside the French Market.
