A trolley ride through New Orleans

Today was trolley day.  We took an Uber to the start of the St Charles street line.  We rode up the line until the first point they suggest you disembark.  It is mostly a few restaurants.  But it is too early to eat.  So we walked along the street taking pictures of the houses.

We got out at one of the early stops and walked along the street.  It started raining.  But that doesn't stop us.

The trolley schedule is not very consistent.  But eventually we got back on and passed the house below.

Along this area of St.Charles Street a lot of Mardi Gras beads were hanging from the trees.

We stopped at dive of a diner for lunch.  All locals except for us.  A local police bobby stopped into the restaurant.  He walked through greeting the waitresses.  He stopped at my table and admired by hair color.  Then a short while later seemed enamored by a young girls get up.  She had on a leotard, tights and tutu and boots.  With her hair up in a tight bun she looked like she might be into dance.

Love the name of this place.  The food was actually very decent.  Mike had 1/2 of a poor boy with roast beef and a small bowl of gumbo.  He loved both.  I had fried catfish with fries and a salad.  The salad was mostly lettuce with a few tomatoes, the catfish was moist and delicious and the fries were good.  We were totally accepted into the local scene.  It was interesting to listen to the women in the next booth talking to a waitress, explaining how she was not white trash.  It was like being in another world.
We continued to walk up the street.  I saw this car along one of the side streets.

Along this side street I saw a couple of car that seemed to be in progress.  I think this might e a Packard.

We were heading toward toward the Ferry terminal.  We wanted to take the ferry to Algeres Point.  Views from the ferry.

I don't remember this guys name.  But he is a very famous jazz musician.  Algiers Point used to be a high point of the jazz world.

I absolutely loved the colors and textures of this small historical town.

Then back to the ferry for the ride back to Canal street.

A broken window that was so interesting.
We took the trolley intending to go to its terminus.  But there was a car accident which blocked the trolley tracts - so we bailed early and took an uber back to our rental house.  Back at the house I cooked the yellow squash, while Mike walked a block or so to Popeye's chicken to pick up some meat for dinner.  Dinner done, we worked on our photos and the day ended.
