4/13 Yangshou

After the Lijiang River Cruise, we spent the night at Yangshou.  We had to walk through the touristy area to get to our hotel.

Kungfu Froggy!

Saw this setup of "relics" for sale.

We went to this place twice as Michael raved about the bagel sandwich he had on the first visit.  Tim had to try it later.

Fans and trinkets for sale all over.

A drinks stand.

We saw stores like this every where we went.  Some were just selling the clothes - others rented them out to tourists so they could have their pictures taken in them.

Durian fruit - smells horrible, but some people really like the flavor.  Some places ban it's presence.

You can get your feet manicured by tiny fish. I experienced it many years ago - it tickles when the fish nibble on your toes.

So many different kinds of chili to buy!

A temple amidst all the commercialism.

A llama to entice you to pet it and then you get sucked into buying stuff.  Not native to the area.

Sweet buns with stuff inside.

Scooters are every where and driven by all types.  You do see whole families on one scooter, but that is probably more common in rural areas.

Lotions and creams.

Love the juxtaposition of American KFC and local specialties.

I was trying to take a photo of the balloonist - but this man kept getting in the way.  I finally realized he wanted me to include him in the photo.  He and his kids posed for me.  He probably took home a different story - there was this crazy white woman who kept trying to take photos of me and the kids!

A manikin shows how to grind the food.

Here you see wishes hanging on bridges not locks.

Part two of Yangshou coming up next.
