First a couple of shots of the city of Porto as it wakes up. I love waking up to this view every morning.
The ceiling in the main atrium.
Around the edges of the ceiling are emblems from many countries.
From the U.S.
Even the tiles on the floor are very ornate and beautiful.
Intricately carved ceiling.
One group of important Porto men.
Looking down at the square from inside the building.
The wood room.
The gold room!
Next onto Sao San Francisco Church which is very near by.
View out a window from inside the church.
The Royal McDonalds of Porto.
How many modes are there to transport tourist? The vintage trolly, the hop-on hop-off bus, bicycle tours, walking and cruise ships across the river.
A macabre scene from inside - of one of the statues on the outside.
And then down to the cellar to the catacombs.
We took the water taxi from the Porto side of the river back to Gaia. We stopped at a café for a drink and Michael had a beer while he attended his Rotary Club meeting. I wandered up and down the river taking photos and trying some shots with the fish-eye lens.
We had a late lunch and then headed back to the apartment for the evening.
The views are great. Do they still conduct active trading at the stock market building?
ReplyDeleteIt sure looks from the stock exchange and church decore that Porto appreciates an austere, unostentatious esthetic
