Getting old sucks! Michael has had to do quite a bit of driving - so he is stressed and tired. My back pain is the worst it has been in quite a while. So this weekend we took it easy. Saturday we went shopping at the Decathlon and then the mall very close to our rental. The kids were interested to see what a shopping experience would be like in Spain.
At the Decathlon, Michael found a couple of pieces of clothing that he thought were good values. Arti found a raincoat he wanted to buy. He likes his clothes very large - but this was beyond large - you could have put two of him in there. We took a picture of him in the coat and sent if off to his parents. Of-course it was the middle of the night for them - so we did not get an answer.
Next on to the mall - the disappointing mall. But Arti did find some Nike shoes for about $75. He had hoped his parents would reimburse him for them - as this purchase pretty much left him out of money. He does really seem to like them and has been wearing them since we got back.
We found lunch at a restaurant called New York. Yelena and I got pizza and Michael got bocadillo tortilla Espania. A Spanish omelet in between two pieces of bread. Arti got a smoothie and fries - he wants to go to McDonalds to see how the Spanish version compares with the U.S. version.
After a stop at the local Mecadona to pick up a few things - we headed home to put the groceries away. Then Michael drove Arti to McDonalds where he bought the biggest hamburger I have ever seen at a McDonalds, a soda, fries, and a side of chicken nuggets. He thought the fries tasted different - we surmised that maybe they were made with olive oil. The hamburger had three kinds of cheese - he could only taste two. It was so much food that he has another meal for another day!
Sunday we fulfilled Arti's desire to go to an amusement park in Spain. Michael dropped Yelena and Arti off at Terra Mitica which is only a few minutes from our house rental. Michael and I opted to stay at home to catch up on rest. Michael wants to try the jetted tub while the kids are not here. Did I mention the weird bathroom upstairs? There is no door into the sink area and only an opaque glass door between the sink and the tub/shower/toilet area. You can still see quite a bit through that glass!
I spent time moving from deck chair to deck chair trying to stay out of the sun in order to read on my kindle. The water in the pool is still very cool - so I am nervous about getting my back cold. But maybe the water would be good for it? Who knows?
I got the report form the grandkids. They did have a good time at the amusement park. There were not a lot of people so they had easy access to all the rides and got to do everything they wanted to do. Arti takes after me and has red hair and light skin. He did put on sun block, but not enough. He is looking mighty red. The kids had a great time. Michael and I got some rest - all is well!
Wow, you are packing on a lot each day! That bathroom does sound odd, I wonder if that's typical.
ReplyDeleteglad they were able to do the amusement park. I'm hoping for a more detailed report from Arti
