June 4 - We Finally Made it to Sweden!

Last time we were here, Alexis attempted to get us to Sweden via the train.  Instead we ended up in the middle of no-where Sweden.  This time Rob was in charge of the arrangements.  He bought our train tickets from the ticket machine in the local station.  He was a little confused by the price of getting to Lund. It was way to high.  Upon further research he discovered that we were going to Lund, Denmark - not Lund, Sweden.  Luckily we had a train change in Copenhagen central station.  While there he was able to go to the help desk and get the tickets changed to the correct Lund, and get a large refund.  So glad that was able to be fixed.

After a couple of more train changes, we arrived in the cute little town of Lund, Sweden.  Of-course everyone is starving by now.  Finding an open restaurant on a Sunday in Sweden was a problem.  After walking around a couple of blocks we ended up at a cafe next to the train station.  All they made were fried foods and pasta.  So that is what we ate.

Then we toured the town and the University that seemed to make up a large part of it and the photographers took command.

The Lund Cathedral - denomination is Lutheran.

The next few photos are from the basement of the Cathedral where a lot of the bishops etc are berried.

The rest of the church photos were in the main sanctuary.

This calendar was fascinating.  The information in the bottom section has to be updated every two hundred years - as that is all the data that this calendar has space for.

Alexis and daughters mesmerized by the calendar.

The organ and pipes.

The alter area.

Back in the town.

The University area.

Came complete with perfect climbing trees.

University building looking very Ivy-Leaguish.

And more photos around town.

An "Apple" fountain?  Looking very caramelly and very attractive to bees.
