There are so many holidays in El Campello in October. Most of them take place during the days of the Festival of the Moors and the Christians. There is the National Day of Spain, next the regional holiday and finally the Church holiday honoring the Virgin of the Forsaken. The last one ends up with fireworks in honor of the Virgin of the Forsaken at about 11pm and is the final event of the Festival.
We heard and saw the fireworks from the windows of our 20th floor apartment last year - and so were looking forward to them this year. It is fortunate that we have adopted the Spanish fashion of staying up very late and sleeping late in the morning. I have to say that my English friends from the Knitting and Nattering group that meets on Fridays is not a fan of the Festival. They live here year round and most live in apartments closer to the real town and therefore close to where all the events, especially the fireworks take place. I imagine that it would be like living close to Balloon Fiesta park and how you feel about the Balloon Fiesta when you can barely get in and out of your driveway for all the Fiesta traffic.
Anyway - I took something like 120 photos and am only going to post 26! Hey - it took some time for me to get the timing right!
