Adventures in Spain version 2025

We are finally on our much awaited trip to Spain, after a couple of setbacks in 2024 and early 2025.  I had a blood clot in November 2024 and then, just as I thought I was getting back on my feet, I had 3 bones fractured in my left foot end of May while in Sweden.  We had to use Wheel chair service on our way home from Sweden - which cemented my dislike of using the service.  My podiatrist insisted that I used the service at least on our way to Spain.  It actually went pretty well until we got to Madrid - where it all fell apart.  If you want to know more details here is a link to my husbands blog as he beat me to getting it posted:  https://de-intimidator.blogspot.com/

I have not taken any photos with my camera yet as we have spent the last 4 days mostly in transit.  9/17 we flew ABQ to Chicago, overnight in Chicago.  Next day flew from Chicago to Istanbul, in the air for the night and arrived in Istanbul 5+am in the morning.  Early afternoon flew Istanbul to Madrid on arriving 9/19, overnight in Madrid.  Next day on Saturday we drove from Madrid to Bilbao.  I tried to capture a bit of the countryside with my phone.  We are going 120kph so no chance to compose a photo.

We kept seeing these fields that looked like short sunflowers.  Still not sure what they are.  Also saw lots of wineries.  Otherwise a lot of the landscape reminded me of NM - desert and scrub brush.

Our Sunday was spent relaxing, doing laundry and talking to family.  My injured foot was doing a lot of complaining so maybe tomorrow we can plan an outing.  Today was overcast and rain off and on.  Tomorrow will be the same.  We may just scout out a bunch of seaside villages and beach areas to go back to and photograph when the weather gets better towards the end of the week.

All this to say, we are both glad to be back to travel.
