This is our last full day in Melaka. Tomorrow we fly to Penang. We enjoyed the river cruise and wanted to come back in the daylight to photograph some of the painted houses.
Michael at work- not sure what caught his fancy.
Signs at the Reggie place.
I took this shot for Stephanie - she used to be lead singer for a band called Jupiter back in the day.
St Francis Xavier Church near Dutch Square
If you are Japanese this is a must. They like fish flakes/powder on everything.
If you are curious about Malaysian food - this is a typical restaurant and offerings. If not interested skip over the next few photos.
The bridges are not near as colorful during the day.
We had lunch at this small cafe center. If you look closely you can see Michael right in the middle.
This was a place called Shawarma Corner. The owner was from Egypt. So that is a different flavor than we are used to from Turkey. But it was delicious.
On this bridge we watched a small girl practice climbing steps. At first she held fast to her brother's hand as they went up and down the steps many times. By the end she made a solo trip up the steps very proudly.
One of the bridges featured typical Malaysian weapons.
This looked even better by night and under lights.
We decide to go to the Floating Mosque now instead of going home to rest and then going out again. We waited for our Grab ride across the street from this mosque. I thought the lighthouse minaret was very unusual.
From what I have read, this mosque is much more captivating in the dawn or sunset hours. It is the Masjid Selat Melaka Mosque
The dress code is very strict. In fact, most visitors, even Malaysians did not go in. They just took photos from the outside and then left.
