December 27 Portuguese Seafood Restaurant

As you may recall, we naively thought we could just pop into one of these famous restaurants on New Years Eve - which did not turn out so well.  So we tried again this evening.  We went on the early side, and even called the restaurant to be sure we did not need reservations.  All was fine. and we were one of the first guests to arrive.

Traditional Portuguese Seafood - Home Style Cooked!

Michael had beer - they only sold it in the large size - about two normal size bottles.  My juice choices were limited - I finally opted for the lime/prune juice.  Let's just say it was "interesting".

Michael chose scallops - which had a very subtle - but good flavor.

We have been craving vegetables, they generally do not come with your meal.

I choose fish - there were no options on what kind of fish - just fish.  But you did have options on how it was prepared - as long as it was baked.  But it was so delicious!  Our favorite dish of the meal.

From our room on the 24th floor of the building above, we have been watching every night as people walk back and forth on the dock.  So now I have photo proof of what they were seeing - mud!  The tide is out!

We decided to walk home going partially through the street we were on on Christmas Eve.

But now, instead of lights and Christmas decorations we are really seeing all the blooming plants.

Along with some decorations!

We really are taking the local's shortcut.

We had to cross this rickety bridge!  Luckily, not too far to fall.

A very mixed neighborhood.  Homes like those above - and some fancier ones below.

It was only a 15-20 minute walk.  So a good evening for us.
