We paid for a tourist bus to drop us off hopefully closer to the entrances of the castles. The first castle was Quinta da Regaleira. Most all of these castles have extensive land and gardens - all on hills, so there is a lot of walking.
The granddaughters showing the map of the grounds.
The castle: Quinta da Regaleira
The next castle was the one I especially wanted to see: Palaciode Monserrate. It is known for its water features, ponds and waterfalls. It apparently had gone into decline and was only redone in 2016. But still not many visitors here. Doesn't the photo below remind you of Monet?

The castle itself at the top of the hill.
More of the grounds and gardens.
The Koi pond beyond the stairs.
At the end of the day we drove to the sea at the end of our street. Lots of cliffs and waves.
Also some holes in the rocks leading to quiet coves that exploded with foam when the tide comes in.
A final pose from N and L.
