On Sunday we took an uber to the train station, and then the train into Lisbon. Our first stop was the most popular square.
Where we found the most popular person - the bubble maker!
We then walked down to the water's edge.
The granddaughters dancing in the square.
Eventually we made our way through the city gate to find some lunch.
Then we headed off to find the Lisbon Cathedral, passing this building that looks like a church but is a museum.
And here is the cathedral.
Then out to the square to find transportation to the Castle high above us.
We could take a tuk tuk, a tram or a bus. We ended up on the bus. So glad we did, as the hills were very steep.
The bus dropped us off here, very near the entrance to the St. George Castle.
Lia, dancing her way to the entrance.
The castle itself has been destroyed and rebuilt many times. The last time it was restored as ruins - so none of it is real. But you can climb up to the top of the walls and take photos of the city around it.
I liked this sign. Please do no lean on the foot! I have been wearing a medical boot for the past many weeks and am hoping to get rid of it. But, don't lean on my boot!
Peacocks abound here. To the delight of the grandchildren and other tourists.
My view of the family from atop the wall.
Of course we stop for a snack - which means icecream for the girls.
I confirm this is all factually accurate! :)
