Lagos, Portugal - Old Town

Today we spent all our time in the town that we are staying in.  We have a house that is in a new development.  According to Alexis and Rob, most of the neighbors are British who come for the summer.  All I know is what I hear - a lot of dogs!  We drove a short distance to the old town.

Entering the gate of the old city.

One of the many tiled buildings.

Also many buildings in decay.

On the wall across from the church of St. Anthony.

The slave museum:  Antigo Mercado de Escavos.  So interesting to see this side of the story.  In April I will see the slave headquarters where the slaves left Ghana .

The city walls in the foreground.

The town of Lagos coat of arms.

To the seaside - near the fort.

The fort:  Forte da Penta da Bandeira.

Mostly displays of porcelain fish and crustaceans.

The chapel at the Fort.

A sign on a wall that Alexis and I found very amusing!
