Sojourn in the Netherlands - Leiden

We all took the tram and then the train to get to the nearby town of Leiden.  The Christmas Market had already ended and they were in the process of tearing it all down.  But the village was very charming.

First we went in search of a bookstore as the girls had been promised "Top Model" drawing books.  The adults all had hunger crabs so the girls ended up getting a lesser choice book just so we could get to lunch.

Everyone else pronounced this restaurant "cool".  But I'm not really into warehouse type places, especially as you had to go up the steps against the far wall to go to the toilet.  Something always seems to go wrong on these trips - this time it is my right foot.

Natasha wanted to see what she looked like with the fisheye lens.
Lia, still showing the bruise on her chin from the scooter injury, is deep into books.  Since she goes to school in the Netherlands - most of her books are in Dutch.

The hill below is man made - just so a fortress of sorts could be built on top.

The Heald family at the top of the hill.

We took a detour on the way back to the train station to see a few more sights.

The entrance to an orphanage.

A cool bridge on our walk back.

The train station.
