This time we are taking a U.S. road trip. I have not been to four southern states, Alabama, Arkansaw, Mississippi or Louiasana. New Orleans has been on our wish list for years! Many friends and relatives have gone and raved about the experience.
So I have been preparing for this trip for about two weeks. We want this to be a low cost trip as our spring trip will be a big one. We packed the cooler and food and plan to picnic our way along. As well as bug spray - necessary for our swamp tour. And all kinds of things we would not take on a trip out of the country.
And as usual, at the last minute things go wrong. Thursday I loaded the latest files from the desktop to the laptop computer. As I was doing this, I got an error message, ?000000???, which meant there was major corruption and my laptop needed to be repaired! Was this a scam? Like when you get the the blue screen with blinking message saying you needed to call this number immediately to get your computer repaired? That is a scam. So I googled the error message on the desktop - it is a legimate error message. HELP? NOoooo not the day before a trip! I rebooted. Everything worked fine. Big sigh of relief.
Friday, it took much longer to get everything together and packed into the car. As Mike was taking things out to the car to pack them, he noticed the florescent light in the garage was hanging from the electric connections. The large screws holding it onto the ceiling had loosened from the drywall. Is this dangerous??? Will it fall down onto Mike's car parked in the garage. Mike tried to reattach it to the ceiling - no the holes are too large. How can we get rid of some of the weight. We can take off the top and take out the bulbs. If it falls at least we won't have glass all over the floor. But is it an electrical hazard? I will have to call Dave, our handyman later, we do have to get going as we have a long ways before our hotel stop.
So off we go. A long day of driving though eastern New Mexico and into Texas. We stop finally in Abilene, TX. I call Dave. He is an angel. He will check for us tomorrow morning and let me know if all is OK.
We are looking forward to Saturday as we head for the Texas Hill Country!
awww, glad to see the tradition continues
